Top 5 Mortal Kombat 11 players

  • Based on the results of Combo Breaker 2019

Combo Breaker 2019 has come to a end! Mortal Kombat 11 had it’s biggest weekend yet with players from all across the world traveling to St.Charles, Illinois.
Who will Rise Up and Test their Might while leaving all others to Embrace Death?

  1. END|Scar (Sonya, Scorpion)
  2. FOX|SonicFox (Jacqui, Erron Black, Skarlet)
  3. Noble|Tweedy (Baraka, Geras, Jacqui)
  4. Noble|Semiij (Kitana)
  5. Dragon (Cetrion)
  6. PXP|A Foxy Grampa (Cassie Cage, Kung Lao)
  7. Big D (Cetrion, Jade)
  8. Deoxys (Geras, Kitana)
  • To limited the list to 5 players Deoxys, Big D and Foxy Grandpa’s Combo Breaker run will not be fully cover. These high-level players had amazing runs and I’m excited to see more of them in the future.

Tied for 5th Place: Dragon (Cetrion)

The Aquaman Injustice 2 champion is back and looking strong in Mortal Kombat 11. Dragon plays the Elder God Cetrion and uses her nature based zoning to control the screen and force opponent’s to approach while avoiding a wave of boulders, vine grabs and fire pillars that rain down from the sky. Dragon placed 2nd in the Summit of Time tournament losing to SonicFox and was a likely favorite for Grand Finals at Combo Breaker. A early loss in the tournament to the Jade player Was knocked Dragon into Losers Bracket early. In Top 8 Semiij’s heavy pressure playstyle and well timed jumps ended Dragon’s Combo Breaker run.

(Elder Goddess too smooth)

4th Place: Noble|Semiij (Kitana)

Coming in at 4th is the Injustice 2 Catwoman with the wild “jump 2”. Semiij has been utilizing the Princess of Outworld Kitana with a mix of pressure and spacing to keep momentum on his side. He was able to secure a spot in top 8 winners but fell to Tweedy’s Baraka in Winners and SonicFox’s Skarlet in Losers. The match in Losers was looking to go in Semiij’s favor with a 2-0 lead vs Sonicfox. Sonicfox soon reversed the momentum with a 3-2 win in SonicFox’s favor. A strong showing this weekend and I expect Semiij will continue to develop later into the Mortal Kombat 11 meta.

(Semiij jump-ins are too strong)

3rd Place: Noble|Tweedy (Baraka, Geras, Jacqui)

Tweedy’s focus for this weekend has been the Tarkatan Warrior Baraka.
Able to secure an early win against Sonicfox in bracket helped propel him to the Winner’s Side of Top 8 and keeping the chop-chops coming. String awareness and creative anti-airing helped Scar to slow down Tweedy and send him to losers. He soon fought SonicFox and was completely mauled with endless offense that send quickly send Tweedy out of the tournament.

(Tarkatan Maul fest)

2nd Place: FOX|SonicFox (Jacqui, Erron Black, Skarlet)

The Greatest Modern-day NRS player with EVO Titles in Injustice 1/2 and Mortal Kombat 9/10/11 placed 2nd after an early loss to Tweedy’s Baraka. He climbed all the way back to Grand Finals in the losers side and even in defeat had a nail biting set against Scar’s Sonya. While he did keep the pressure on and the damage high, Sonicfox was not able to seal out rounds cleanly. Multiple dropped combos piled on and slowly he began to have less and less control over the place if the match. In the end Jacqui was not enough and SonicFox fell to Scar’s Sonya.

(Tweedy get mopped quickly)

1st Place: END|Scar (Sonya, Scorpion)

While Scar’s Injustice 2 run was rocky, He blazes into Mortal Kombat 11 with a convincing win at Combo Breaker 2019. Scar was able to stay on the Winner’s side and give himself a advantage against SonicFox’s losers run. Scar’s decision to not break combos and instead save meter for safe wakeup attacks helped him to regain momentum and keep himself from holding mix-ups into death. Solid space control, clutch reads and the ability to stay calm and push toward the corner all culminated in a 1st place victory for Scar at Combo Breaker 2019. CONGRATULATIONS 🎉

(The curse of Sonicfox not winning Combo Breaker continues)

  1. Came from Reddit…. you still have a lot of typos and stuff. I’m not even a native English speaker (I’m Polish) and they’re very obvious to me (I’m not a proffesional editor like the other guy, but I’ve written online for a decade and I trained a few guys along the way). Examples:
    > Able to secure a early win against Sonicfox in bracket helped propel him to the Winner’s Side if Top 8 and keeping the chop-chops coming.
Shouldn’t it be “AN” early win? (I’ve spotted a similar mistake at least once in another paragraph)
Also: “in bracketS” and “OF Top 8” (not IF).
    > push toward
    towardS?
    > and push toward the corner all culminated in a 1st place victory for Scar at Combo Breaker 2019 .
    towardS, THE 1st place
Also: the space between 2019 and the dot hurts my eyes!
    > placed 2 after a early lost to Tweedy’s Baraka
placed two? you probably meant: placed 2nd
Also: AN early LOSS, not A early LOST…
All that from just the last 2 paragraphs. You need to work on your writing skills or get someone who might help you with the editing / formatting / correcting if you plan on writing regularly.

    1. I have made many of the changes you have recommended and appreciate the constructive criticism.

Concerning the use of toward vs. towards the Chicago Manual of Style suggests that both spellings are acceptable.

“According to the Chicago Manual of Style, the preferred form in American English is toward without the -s, while the preferred British English form is towards with the -s. This general rule works with other directional words, including forward, backward, upward, and downward, along with afterward.”

      https://www.dictionary.com/e/word-fact-toward-vs-towards/

Also I believe Bracket vs. Brackets works in a similar context.

Being new to creative writing I’ll make alot of mistakes but I’m excited to learn and grow. Planning on submitting my writing to a forum or help thread in the future.

      Thank you for your help.😀
